PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy begins with a simple blood draw. The sample is then processed in-clinic using our advanced centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the nutrient-rich platelets. Once isolated, these powerful platelets are precisely re-injected into the targeted treatment area to stimulate natural rejuvenation from within.

Important Pre-Treatment Information for PRP Therapy

If you’ve previously experienced difficulty having blood collected, please get in touch before your appointment. This treatment may not be suitable for you.

2 Weeks Before Treatment

If safe to do so, cease oral corticosteroids (e.g., prednisone) 2 weeks prior.
Always consult your GP or prescribing doctor before stopping any medication.

1 Week Before Treatment

Avoid aspirin and any medications containing aspirin for 5 days prior to treatment.
(Patients on Warfarin can continue their usual dosage.)
Discontinue supplements that can increase bruising, including:
- Garlic, Ginkgo, Ginseng, Green Tea
- Vitamin E, Multivitamins
- Omega 3/6, Fish Oils
Cease active skincare products containing:
- Vitamin A / Retinol
- Glycolic Acid or other exfoliating agents
  (Stop at least 5 days prior to treatment.)

2 Days Prior to Treatment

Stop using any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including:
- Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, Celebrex, Mobic
  (Avoid these until 10 days post-treatment.)
Aim to minimise caffeine, alcohol, and fatty foods.
Stay well hydrated: at least 1 litre of water daily, more in warm weather.
Avoid microdermabrasion, chemical peels, or strong exfoliants, which may increase skin sensitivity.

On the Day of Your Appointment

Drink at least 1 litre of water prior to your appointment.
Eat as normal—ideally a low-fat meal before treatment. (Do not fast.)
Avoid vigorous exercise prior to your appointment to assist with blood collection.
Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., Nurofen) on the day, or for 10 days after the procedure.
Have Panadol or Panadeine on hand for any post-treatment discomfort, if needed.

Following your PRP treatment, it’s important to support the healing process and maximise your results. Please follow the guidelines below:

First 12 Hours

Avoid washing your face with any cleansers for at least 12 hours.
→ If needed, you may gently rinse with warm water after 4 hours.
No makeup should be applied for at least 12 hours post-treatment.

Medications & Pain Relief

For discomfort, Paracetamol is safe to use.
Do not take anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. Nurofen, Voltaren, oral steroids) for 7 days after your procedure, as these may interfere with the regenerative process.
Aspirin may be resumed 48 hours post-treatment, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.

Lifestyle Guidelines

Minimise alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours following your procedure.
Avoid exercise and strenuous activity for 24 hours.
Avoid heat or extreme cold exposure (e.g. saunas, cryotherapy, hot showers) for 72 hours.

Swelling & Side Effects

Some mild swelling is expected. In rare cases, significant under-eye swelling may occur due to an amplified regenerative response.
→ A cool compress or ice pack may be applied gently if needed.

Contact us immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Swelling that worsens after 24 hours
- Redness, skin oozing, or signs of infection
- Fever or systemic symptoms
