PDO MONO THREADS

PDO Mono Threads are a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment used to support and revitalise areas of the skin showing signs of laxity or texture changes.

At Meridian Aesthetics, we use smooth, single-strand PDO threads made from a biocompatible material commonly used in dissolvable sutures. These threads are gently placed just beneath the skin’s surface, where they gradually dissolve over time. Unlike traditional thread lifts that aim to lift tissue using barbed threads, Mono Threads are designed to improve skin texture and structure without physically lifting the face.

When used for aesthetic purposes, these threads can stimulate collagen production in the skin and may contribute to a gradual firming effect. This effect is typically observed over a period of 6–12 months.

PDO (Polydioxanone) Thread treatment involves the precise placement of a custom pattern of dissolvable threads just beneath the surface of the skin to stimulate collagen and rejuvenate the treatment area.

The treatment begins with the application of a topical anaesthetic to numb the skin. If additional comfort is needed, local anaesthetic may also be injected. Our trained nurses then insert the threads using a fine micro-needle, which is removed immediately, leaving the PDO thread in place.

Over time, the body naturally dissolves the threads, triggering a collagen regeneration response. In their place, a supportive network of your own collagen is formed, improving skin texture, elasticity, and firmness.

Each appointment takes approximately 30–60 minutes, including a comprehensive consultation, numbing, and treatment.

You can expect to see initial results at around 6 weeks, with continued improvement over 2 to 6 months as collagen production progresses.
