PDO Mono Threads are a revolutionary treatment to firm and rejuvenate the skin or target an area of skin laxity. Our thread treatment differs from thread lifts which use long barbed threads to lift the face. The Mono Threads which we use at Meridian are made from Polydioxanone. This product is very safe and is comparable to dissolvable stitch material. When used for aesthetic purposes these threads induce collagen production in the skin and given a tightening effect for 6-12 months.
A PDO Thread treatment involve a placement of a tailored pattern of threads just below the surface of the skin. To begin our patients will be given topical anaesthetic to the surface of the skin to numb. Further local anaesthetic can be injected for more numbing if required. Our nurses will insert these threads with a micro needle which will be removed and the small dissolvable PDO thread will remain in place. The body will dissolve these small threads and in their place leave microscopic collagen strands made from your own body. These treatments on average take 30-60 minutes which also includes a full consultation, numbing and treatment time. Results will be seen around 6 weeks post treatment and will continue to improve over 2-6 months as further collagen production occurs.
